Testing Shows No Major Issues With Lord Selkirk Bridge

Municipal officials are pleased with the latest inspection of the Lord Selkirk Bridge.

Some area residents expressed concerns when the bridge underwent diagnostic testing last month, wondering why more work was needed so soon after a major rebuild.

The Wallaceburg span was shut down for most of 2019 for a $3-million rehabilitation project.

Engineering officials say one thing that wasn’t replaced was the motors that help open and close the span, and there needed to be some adjustments to the electrical system to allow the older parts to work better with the new components.
