The St Clair Catholic District School Board is hoping some fresh air will help students learn this fall.

Outdoor classrooms are now available at three schools across the board. Chatham’s north-side elementary school, St Angela Merici had an outdoor option when it was opened in the fall of 2020, and now Monsignor Uyen has one as well.

“We are pleased to expand the number of outdoor classrooms across the district,” says Deb Crawford, Director of Education.  “These spaces provide safe alternative learning environments that engage students in exploration, discovery and physical activity.”

The classrooms also allow students to be outdoors and connect with nature while learning.

Plans are in the works to add more outdoor learning spaces at other schools across the district, including UCC, two rural schools in Chatham-Kent, and one school in Wallaceburg, among others.
