CK’s COVID Caseload Rises to 122, 7 Active Outbreaks

A jump in Chatham-Kent’s COVID numbers over the weekend. 

Public Health officials say there were 48 new confirmed cases since the last update on Friday. Along with 33 cases resolved, the active caseload has risen to 122. 

Two more school outbreaks have been declared, one at St Elizabeth Catholic School in Wallaceburg, the other at St Ursula Catholic School in Chatham. 

In all, there are now 7 active outbreaks across the municipality, six of which involve schools. 

There are currently 8 COVID patients being treated at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, seven of whom are in the ICU. Hospital officials say the COVID-positive patient range from the teens up to 74 years old. 

The CKHA intensive care unit is currently 80% filled, while medical/surgical/critical care beds are sitting at 90.3% occupancy.

Chatham-Kent continues to have one of the highest rates of new infections per capita, and lowest rates of vaccination in Ontario.
