The Municipality of Chatham-Kent announced today that the more than three dozen Wheatley businesses and non-profit organizations can now apply for provincial funding to mitigate their financial losses.

The program is being provided in response to the financial impact the organizations faced following the August 26th explosion and subsequent evacuation of part of the downtown core.

Stuart McFadden Chatham-Kent’s Director of Economic Development says the funding application provides aid in 2 phases; the first immediate emergency financial relief and the second is to re-establish their business and relocation if needed.

The form will be posted on the Chatham-Kent website tomorrow, Tuesday, November 2nd.

Municipality Economic Development Services staff will be on-site at the Wheatley Resource Centre/Food Bank at 108 Talbot Road East on the following dates to provide assistance.

  • Thursday, November 4th – 9:00 am – 1:30 pm
  • Friday, November 5th – 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
