Police are on the hunt for a thief after a catalytic converter was stolen in Chatham.

Authorities say someone broke into an Irwin Street property early Saturday morning, removing the device from a vehicle parked on the lot.

Catalytic converters are worth a much as $2000, and are often stolen because of the platinum and rhodium inside.

Damage from the theft is pegged at $800.

Anyone who might be able to track down the suspect is asked to call Chatham-Kent Police or Crime Stoppers.
