Ontario is phasing out paper renewal notices for things like drivers licenses, plate stickers, and OHIP cards.
Officials say anyone with documents set to expire after March 1st, 2022 will not be mailed out renewal notices, but can instead sign up for digital reminders or phone calls.
There are some exemptions though, including drivers aged 70 and older or specific testing requirements, and those living in remote or isolated communities.
The new digital reminders will be sent out 60 and 30 days before it’s time to renew your licence plate sticker, driver’s licence, or health card.
The move is expected to save as much as $29-million over five years with the cost of postage and materials, money the government claims will be reinvested in education.
