A spike in COVID cases in Chatham-Kent over the weekend, and another outbreak declared.
Public Health officials are reporting 39 new infections since the last update on Friday. With 13 cases resolved, there are now 83 active cases across the municipality, Chatham-Kent’s highest COVID caseload since mid-October.
A second church-based outbreak has been declared with five cases identified since Friday. There are now eight active outbreaks, including the two churches, four schools in Chatham and Tilbury, a manufacturing plant, and Tilbury Manor nursing home.
There are currently four COVID patients being treated at the Health Alliance, one of whom is in the ICU.
Of the Chatham-Kent residents who have contracted COVID-19 since July 1st, 72% have been unvaccinated, 11% are either partially vaccinated, not yet fully protected, or have an undetermined vaccination status, and 16% are fully vaccinated.
