Wallaceburg’s Jeff May will be honoured by his alma mater—the University of Windsor, for his efforts in building up and creating opportunities for track and field athletes with a disability.
This Wednesday, during the University of Windsor Alumni Sports Hall of Fame ceremony being held online, May will be honoured in the Sport Achievement category, which recognizes alumni for outstanding contributions to sport beyond the University of Windsor.
Normally the ceremony would be held in person, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a video commemoration will be released on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
May, a Wallaceburg District Secondary School graduate, was the first athlete with a disability to train as an active member of the University of Windsor Lancer track and field team. After he graduated from Windsor in 2001, May has been a force in helping organize track and field meets and coach athletes with a disability.
