Two more local residents have died from COVID-19.
Officials with Chatham-Kent Public Health say two men, one in his 60s and another in his 70s, passed away at hospitals outside of Chatham-Kent late last week.
27 Chatham-Kent residents have now lost their lives to the virus since the pandemic began.
Meantime, on the heels of a big jump over the weekend, Public Health is reporting just three new infections today and 20 cases resolved, lowering the active caseload to 145.
Two outbreaks have been cleared, leaving six active across the municipality including five elementary schools and a manufacturing plant.
12 patients are being treated for COVID-19 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, four of whom are in the ICU and two on ventilators.
As far as vaccination rates go, CKHA officials say eight of the 12 COVID patients have not been fully vaccinated.
16 hospital staff are currently off work due to testing positive for COVID or being exposed to the virus.
Beds in the intensive care unit are 70% full, while capacity of the hospital’s medical, surgical, and critical care beds sits at 94%.
