For the first time in more than two weeks, public health officials are not reporting a single COVID-19 related death in Chatham-Kent.
In the most recent update on Friday, Chatham-Kent Public Health reported 81 new infections, but no new deaths associated with the virus.
A total of 47 Chatham-Kent residents have lost their lives to the virus since the pandemic began. Twenty local residents have died from COVID-19 just this month.
The current seven-day rolling average case count now sits at 59 per day.
There are currently nine ongoing outbreaks within the municipality, all of which are attributed to group homes, long-term care homes and retirement homes.
There are currently 29 patients at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance who have tested positive for COVID-19, 12 of whom are being treated primarily for the virus. Of those patients being treated for COVID-19, eight are not fully vaccinated.
Five patients with COVID-19 are being treated in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit and two others are being treated in the Progressive Care Unit.
