Outbreak Declared at CKHA, 34 New COVID Cases Since Friday

Outbreak protocols have been reinstated at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

Public Health has declared a COVID outbreak in the Chatham site’s Medicine B unit with three confirmed cases of health-care acquired COVID-19.

A number of infection prevention and control measures have been put in place, including limiting visitors and care partners for the time being.

There are a total of 11 cases of COVID at the hospital. Three people are being treated primarily for the virus.

Across Chatham-Kent, Public Health is reporting 34 infections since the last update on Friday, raising the seven-day average to 16 new cases a day.

Aside from the Health Alliance, there are three other active outbreaks. 25 cases have now been linked to Blenheim Community Village, 12 at Chatham Retirement Resort, and 7 connected to a group home.

Province-wide, 655 people remain hospitalized with COVID-19, 158 in ICU.
