Public Input Sought On Location Of Pickleball Courts

Chatham-Kent residents are being given the chance to voice their opinions on the location of 10 new pickleball courts.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is planning to build six courts at Ellis Park in Chatham, two at Jaycee Park in Wallaceburg, and another two at Jackson Park in Dresden.

An online survey is currently being held to gather feedback on the proposed locations, which were selected on the basis of community need, current recreational assets, the existence of pickleball groups, as well as appropriate space, accessibility and parking.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation has awarded the municipality $430,000 through a Community Building Grant for the construction of the 10 courts. The grant will cover 80 per cent of the project costs.

Construction on the courts is expected to start as early as this spring or summer and be completed before the summer of next year.
