Another COVID Uptick in CK

Another 39 high risk residents in Chatham-Kent have been diagnosed with COVID-19. The update from CK Public Health shows the rolling seven-day average has increased to 14 cases a day.

A group home outbreak has been cleared, but Public Health continues to monitor outbreaks at Chatham Retirement Resort, Blenheim Community Village, and the medicine unit at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

There are now 13 COVID patients being treated at the Health Alliance, 4 of whom were admitted for treatment of the virus, one of those is in the ICU.

The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 continues to rise across Ontario. The province is reporting 804 people hospitalized with the virus, 167 of whom are in intensive care.

In an update Friday morning, Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam said as of March 31st, the average daily case counts had increased by 28%. However, she says case numbers and severe outcomes have declined since the Omicron wave peaked.
