Another outbreak has been declared at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
Chatham-Kent Public Health declared the outbreak in the hospital’s Complex Continuing Care Unit on Friday after four cases of health-care-acquired COVID-19 were identified.
As a result, CKHA officials said a number of initiatives have been implemented to ensure infection prevention and control in the unit.
“CK Public Health is communicating with impacted patients and families for the contact tracing process,” the hospital said in a news release. “CK Public Health contacts individuals who have been exposed and informs them of appropriate measures to take.”
This marks the second ongoing outbreak at the hospital’s Chatham site.
Public health officials declared a COVID-19 outbreak in the hospital’s medicine unit on March 27, which is linked to 11 cases.
At the time the outbreak was declared on Friday, a total of 20 patients had been admitted to CKHA, however, only six were being treated primarily for the virus.
