CKHA Foundation Launching 50/50 Fundraiser

A new 50/50 draw is being launched to raise money for pulmonary testing equipment at Chatham-Kent’s hospital.

Tickets for the Igniting Healthcare 50/50 FUNdraiser will go on sale on Monday, with proceeds going towards the purchase of two pulmonary function test (PFT) units for the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. The two units will replace existing pulmonary equipment at the Chatham and Wallaceburg hospital sites.

The PFT units assess how well the lungs work by measuring lung volume, capacity, rates of flow, and gas exchange.

“PFT units are crucial in diagnosing a wide variety of respiratory and other health problems,” said Bob Hockney, chair of the CKHA Foundation Board of Directors. “While someone is sure to win a life-changing amount of money through this fundraiser, there will be many more winners among the patients at CKHA’s Chatham and Wallaceburg sites.”

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation said last year’s 50/50 draw raised a total of $262,520, with three friends splitting the $131,260 jackpot.

This year’s draw will take place on July 13 at 1 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at the foundation’s office or online at www.ignite5050.ca.
