A busy weekend for Chatham-Kent Police conducting a RIDE checkpoint near Erieau.
Authorities say numerous vehicles were stopped with several charges laid under the Highway Traffic Act and Liquor License and Control Act.
In all, 17 provincial offences were issued, seven summonses, two breath demands, and one vehicle was towed.
Police say more RIDE checks will be conducted across the municipality as the summer approaches, and drivers are reminded to make alternate arrangements to get home if they’ve been drinking.
Meantime, impaired driving charges have been laid against a Wallaceburg woman.
According to Chatham-Kent Police, a concerned citizen called 911 over the weekend about a vehicle being driven erratically on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.
Officers tracked down the vehicle to the parking lot of a local business and the driver taken to police headquarters, where she was charged and released with a date in court later this month.
