There has been a boom in short-term rentals across Chatham-Kent, through online marketplaces such as Airbnb, VRBO and Homestay.

Chatham-Kent councillor Anthony Ceccacci wants the municipality to take a look at possibly licensing short-term rentals in the municipality.

Currently the municipality licenses places like hotels, motels and bed and breakfasts, but they don’t license short-term rentals.

Ceccacci is proposing to have the municipality get feedback from the public on the idea, with that information and feedback coming back in a report to council in the fall.
