Provincial Police in neighbouring Elgin County are asking drivers to be on the lookout after a number of collisions involving motorcycles over the weekend.
Over the course of just over four hours, officers responded to three separate collisions, two two-vehicle crashes, and one single-vehicle collision. In each case, the driver of the motorcycle was hurt with injuries ranging from minor to serious but non-life threatening.
“Safe, defensive driving is paramount to reducing the number of motorcycle fatalities and serious injuries on our roads and highways,” Inspector Mark Loucas, Elgin County OPP Detachment Commander said in a news release.
“Sharing the road safely is every driver’s responsibility. This cannot be overstated when motorcycles are involved. Please make sure to take those extra two seconds before proceeding into the intersection. Checking twice will save a life and prevent a collision.”
