A new craft brewery is coming to downtown Wallaceburg.
Todd Shepley is the driving force behind the Glasstown Brewery Company, currently under construction on James Street.
“We’re on the east end of downtown near the library, we have that entire block secured,” Shepley says. “Those buildings have been inactive for quite some time, we’re just bringing that back and it’s the perfect location.”
Crews have been gutting the interior of the building over the last few weeks with plans to not only create a brew house, but also a café and bistro, along with a patio backing onto the river.
“We’re trying to renew, revive the downtown and get it going,” Shepley explains. “I travel all over the US for my tool and die job and I sit on many river banks at different breweries, this has got the same feel. It’s on the water, the patio out back is going to be amazing.”
Shepley says all of the brewing equipment has been purchased and they hope to be pouring cement in the lower level of the building next week.
Pending any supply chain issues, the ownership group hopes to open the doors in October.
