A crash that closed a section of Highway 2 near Tilbury has claimed a life.
According to Chatham-Kent Police, a cement truck was heading west approaching the 401 on-ramp when the vehicle veered into the eastbound lanes, colliding with an SUV. The truck eventually came to rest in a cornfield on the south side of the road, while the SUV spun into the ditch.
A 55-year-old woman behind the wheel of the SUV was rushed to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The 31-year-old driver of the cement truck suffered minor injuries.
No names have been released at this point.
