Tens of thousands of dollars have been raised in support of cancer research.
Sunday marked the annual Terry Fox Run with events held across Chatham-Kent.
Moira Eggett, organizer of the Wallaceburg run, was thrilled to be able to hold an in-person event after two years of virtual fundraising.
“We’re all in person, it’s live and it’s wonderful to be back. I was a little rusty getting this all organized, but it’s so nice to see people’s faces. We’re excited.”
She says along with a fantastic group of volunteers, they’ve always had great community support.
“The goal this year, and we’re probably already there, but to raise half a million since Wallaceburg started the Terry Fox Run,” Eggett says. “I’m pretty sure we’ve exceeded that, so that’s pretty exciting. That was enough for me.”
This year’s Wallaceburg event brought in just over $19,000 in donations.
In-person runs were also held in Dresden, raising $51,095; Blenheim; and Tilbury.
The Chatham and Ridgetown events were held virtually once again this year, bringing in almost $3000 combined.
