Chatham-Kent is once again searching for a Medical Officer of Health.

Just a few months after taking the job, Dr. Mario Kangeswaren has announced his resignation.

Kangeswaren was first named to the job in July and took over the top doctor position at the end of August.

Public Health officials issued a media release this morning, saying only that Kangeswaren’s last day on the job was last Friday as he pursues other opportunities.

The health unit has declined to comment further on what prompted Kangeswaren’s resignation.

“Dr. Kangeswaren has asked that nothing else be shared,” said April Rietdyk, general manager of community human services and CEO of the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit.

The Board of Health is beginning a new search for the MOH position. In the meantime, former Medical Officer Dr. David Colby will provide coverage until a replacement can be found.
