Copper Wire Theft Causes Significant Damage To Chatham Home

Police are looking for suspects after copper wire was stripped from a Chatham home during a break-and-enter.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said the home on Sandys Street, which is currently being renovated, was broken into sometime over the last week.

An unknown number of suspects made off with copper wire and several tools. The copper pipes to the home’s hot water tank were also cut, causing flooding.

Damage to the home is estimated at around $40,000.
