A community-based donation drive is back for a third year.
The Gift, an off-shoot of the May 16th Miracle, began as a way to support those in need during the pandemic, with residents invited to leave donations on their doorstep for volunteers to collect.
Donations can be anything from toys for kids to gift cards, non-perishable food or other household items.
Over the past three years, organizers say millions of dollars in goods have been raised with thousands of volunteers helping to make it all happen.
“I’ve been involved from the start, and like so many, I just keep getting more deeply involved,” project manager Dakota Hodgson says. “I feel like this is the kind of thing people want – grassroots, forward thinking, inclusive. I’ve been working hard to bring more organization that will allow communities to help each other ever more.”
This year’s edition of The Gift takes place at noon on November 19th.

The Gift Central is open Monday to Saturday 10am – 5pm at The Community Shop in the old Sears receiving area at the Downtown Chatham Centre.
