Live Q&A Covering Respiratory Virus Concerns

Hospitals across Ontario have been reporting a surge in children with respiratory viruses over the last few weeks, putting an increased strain on emergency and health care services.

The community group Come Together CK is reviving their popular Facebook Live Q&A sessions to discuss the issue.

Over a dozen such sessions were held in 2021, primarily focusing on vaccine safety, earning the group a prestigious communications award from the International Association of Business Communicators.

The online chat will take place this Wednesday on the Come Together CK Facebook Page, featuring the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Chief of Paediatric, Dr. Wendy Edwards and Dr. Dax Biondi, a local family physician and Chief of Emergency Medicine.

“We are facing a challenging situation with RSV, influenza and COVID infections all on the rise in our communities,” says Dr. Edwards. “This session will give parents and families the chance to ask questions in a safe space and address any concerns that they may have.”

“As an ER and family physician I am seeing more and more cases of RSV coming through the doors,” says Dr. Biondi. “As a parent I understand the concern and anxiety when your child is sick. This session provides an opportunity for you to ask your RSV questions in a respectful and safe environment and ideally alleviate some of that anxiety.”
