It’s a festive tradition 33 years in the making – tonight, the first of two Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Christmas Wish Trees will be lit.

Lighting ceremonies are being held in Wallaceburg tonight at 6pm and tomorrow at the Chatham hospital. For those who can’t make it in-person, both events will be broadcast on YourTV and streamed live on the CKHA Foundation’s Facebook page.

The ceremonies are part of the foundation’s annual campaign, providing an opportunity for local residents to honour the memory of a loved one by making a donation in their name. For each donation, a light is added to the trees in recognition.

All money raised during the campaign will help to pay for the purchase of new Warming Cabinets for CKHA’s Chatham and Wallaceburg sites, used to warm linens and blankets to increase patient comfort, prevent hypothermia, and decrease anxiety in the hospital environment.

Over $103,000 has been raised so far with a goal of $115,000.
