The last remaining road that was closed due to last year’s gas explosion in Wheatley will reopen on Monday.
Erie Street North between Talbot Road and Elm Street will re-open to vehicular traffic, with a walkway open for pedestrians on the east side of the street.
Access to buildings along the west side of the block remains prohibited due to a CBO Order.
The reduced evacuation zone to the east of Erie Street North no longer contains any single-family residences.
Erie Street North has been closed since a release of methane hydrogen sulphide caused an explosion on August 26, 2021, which destroyed two buildings and injured 20 people.
