A holiday light show in Tilbury has been shut down earlier than expected.
Organizers of the Tilbury Lions Christmas Light Festival announced that because of vandalism in the park, the committee has decided to end the event, which was slated to run through January 6th.
“Our committee apologizes for the abrupt closer of the light festival this year, but we feel that it’s important to maintain our equipment for next year’s festival,” organizers posted on social media. “Thank you to our community for your understanding.”
Since opening the display on November 25, the Tilbury Lions Club raised over $1800 for Chatham-Kent Hospice through the sale of memorial ornaments, hosted a tree decorating contest, offered holiday hayrides, and welcomed countless guests to Memorial Park.
