DNA Evidence Used in Robbery Investigation

Chatham-Kent Police were able to use DNA evidence to catch a suspected thief.

On October 20th, 2022, police say a man walked into a King Street West business in Chatham and demanded money, then left and threw away his clothes.

Authorities used video surveillance to track the suspect’s path and found a scarf, gloves, and a wig for forensic examination.

The Centre of Forensic Sciences contacted CK Police on January 18th to say a DNA profile matched a local man.

A 29-year-old was arrested on Saturday and charged with robbery. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
