A Chatham woman is facing charges in connection to a shoplifting complaint.

Chatham-Kent Police were called to the Real Canadian Superstore on St Clair Street just before 4 o’clock Monday afternoon and say a woman was seen removing items from the shelves and leaving the store without any attempt to pay.

The accused was found on St Clair Street, allegedly carrying the stolen items. Investigators say the woman was also bound by a previous court order not to go to the Superstore.

The 28-year-old is charged with theft, possession of stolen property, and failure to comply with a release order.

She was held in custody for a bail hearing.
