With strong winds in the forecast, the region’s conservation authority is warning of a risk of shoreline damage and possible flooding near Lake Erie.
The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority said winds gusting up to 80 km/h late Wednesday morning until Wednesday afternoon could cause shoreline damage and erosion along the Lake Erie shoreline, including the high bluffs. There is also a risk of minor flooding along Erie Shore Drive in Chatham-Kent.
Waves 1-1.5 metres high are predicted during this time.
The winds are not expected to cause issues on the Lake St. Clair shoreline, the conservation authority said.
Local residents are urged to use caution around the shoreline areas as conditions could become dangerous. Standing water can also present unseen hazards.
