A single-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent has led to charges for a Leamington resident.
The Ontario Provincial Police said emergency crews responded to the collision in the highway’s eastbound lanes at around 4:21 a.m. on Sunday.
The driver, and lone occupant of the vehicle, was assessed at the scene by paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries.
Believing the driver may have consumed alcohol before driving, authorities conducted a roadside screening test.
As a result, a 20-year-old from Leamington has been charged with careless driving, having a blood alcohol level above zero as a novice driver, and failing to surrender an insurance card.
The driver was also issued a three-day driver’s licence suspension.
