Police Chase Lands Wallaceburg Man With Charges

A police chase near Thamesville has landed a Wallaceburg man with several charges.

Chatham-Kent Police spotted a suspicious vehicle leaving a Victoria Road business shortly before 4 o’clock Monday morning and tried to pull the driver over but the vehicle sped off.

Officers gave chase, following the suspect to the Dresden Cemetery, where two occupants fled on foot.

The police canine unit was called in and found one man, later identified as the driver, in a wooded area.

Authorities say the 37-year-old was already bound by conditions from a previous release and probation orders, and was found carrying counterfeit American money.

Charges include flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, possession of counterfeit money, failing to comply with a release order and failing to comply with a probation order.

The man was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
