With a decline in usage, the Chatham-Kent COVID, Cold and Flu Care Clinic will be closing its doors next month.

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance has announced that the clinic, which was formally the CK COVID-19 Assessment Centre, will cease operations as of April 1.

According to hospital officials, the decision comes following a significant drop in the number of individuals accessing the clinic.

“Much like other jurisdictions across the province, volumes have reached a point that are too low to necessitate continued funding of the clinic,” the hospital said in a news release.

Since its inception in March 2020 as a COVID-19 assessment centre, the Chatham-Kent COVID, Cold and Flu Care Clinic provided over 115,000 PCR tests and issued dozens of prescriptions for patients eligible for anti-viral treatment for COVID-19.

Those who require care for COVID-19 symptoms can still do so through Family Health Team physicians, nurse practitioner-led clinics, their primary health providers, walk-in clinics, and urgent care clinics.
