Junior Achievement South Western Ontario is releasing details about an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant to help expand financial literacy programs in Chatham-Kent.

The Grow grant of $154,100 has allowed the organization to increase the reach of their financial literacy programs to Grade 7-12 students in the municipality.

JA South Western Ontario received the Grow grant in 2020 to support the expansion of its financial literacy programs, which help students develop skills such as budgeting, saving, investing, and understanding credit. Officials say these skills are essential for navigating the complex financial landscape of today’s world and building a strong financial foundation for the future. With support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, JA South Western Ontario has helped 1,875 youth in urban and rural areas throughout the community achieve greater financial independence.

“We are thrilled to have received this grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation,” said Karen Gallant, President and CEO of JA South Western Ontario. “Through relevant hands-on learning, we are preparing young people for a brighter financial future, and this grant will go a long way towards supporting this important work.”
