Improper Licence Plates Lead To Drug And Weapon Charges

Stopping a vehicle with mismatched plate numbers has led to a seizure of weapons and drugs in Plympton-Wyoming.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers spotted the vehicle with improper plates on Camlachie Road on Tuesday and determined that it had been reported stolen earlier this month in Sarnia.

After stopping the vehicle, officers arrested the two occupants and conducted a search that turned up multiple prohibited weapons, ammunition, and other stolen property. Officers also seized quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, oxycodone, and hydromorphone.

As a result, a 30-year-old and a 51-year-old from Chippewas of the Thames First Nation have both been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose, and two counts of possession of a prohibited device among other offences.

The accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
