Chatham-Kent has taken on new regulatory responsibilities regarding outdoor patios.
With the province changing liquor laws earlier this year, Chatham-Kent is now in charge of the rules and regulations making it easier for local businesses to create and extend patios.
At tonight’s Chatham-Kent council meeting, council will look to approve a proposed zoning by-law amendment to introduce a new regulation to allow the operation of temporary outdoor patios for a maximum of eight months per calendar year.
Regulating outdoor patios that serve alcohol had previously been the province’s responsibility.
