Subdivision Plans Require Rezoning in Wheatley

Plans could be moving forward for a new subdivision in Wheatley.

At tonight’s planning meeting, council members are being asked to approve zoning amendments and a draft plan for a 48-lot subdivision on Middleton Line.

The plan calls for a mix of single detached and semi-detached dwellings.

A public information session was held in Wheatley in March to answer any questions from area residents.

Municipal officials say the developer will be required to ensure any improperly abandoned water wells discovered on the lands during development will be properly plugged in accordance with provincial requirements, and any unplugged oil and natural gas wells be decommissioned in accordance with the Ontario Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act regulations and Provincial Operating Standards.
