A Chatham driver is facing several charges after being spotted stopped in downtown Chatham.
A concerned citizen called police yesterday morning to report a vehicle stopped in the intersection of King Street and Third Street, despite a green light.
Officers on scene suspected the driver may have been under the influence and brought him back to police headquarters for drug tests.
A search of the accused turned up suspected fentanyl.
The 38-year-old is charged with impaired driving, driving while under suspension, driving a motor vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock device, and drug possession.
The suspect’s vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 45 days.
