Concerns facing Ontario distillers will be front and centre in Chatham today.
Spirits Canada, which represents Canada’s leading spirits producers and marketers, is holding a community tour across Ontario to discuss regulatory issues and other concerns facing the sector and the farmers who supply it.
According to the organization, consumers have greater access to beer and wine made in foreign countries than they do spirits made by Ontario distillers using locally grown grains.
President and CEO Jan Westcott says if the spirits industry continues to face unfair regulation by government, the agricultural community will lose out.
The Spirts Canada Ontario Community Tour kicked off in Windsor yesterday and will be in Chatham this afternoon with a forum running from noon until 1:30 at the Bradley Convention Centre.
