Several businesses in Chatham-Kent are collaborating with the municipality to install cement cornhole games for public use.
In a video posted to his Facebook page, Mayor Darrin Canniff announced that the Merlin Kinsmen will be sponsoring the purchase of two sets of cement cornhole boards, which will be installed at the Kinsmen Park in Merlin.
As well, Nest Realty, Pizza Tonite Chatham, Come Together CK, and Mamma Maria’s will be purchasing four sets of cornhole boards for Kingston Park in Chatham.
“These contributions will create opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to come together, enjoy outdoor activities, and strengthen community bonds,” Canniff said in a news release.
The municipality said it hopes to continue the sponsorship initiative to install additional cornhole sets at parks, recreational areas, and community gathering spots throughout Chatham-Kent, ensuring residents from various neighbourhoods can benefit.
“By bringing this fun and engaging activity to Chatham-Kent, we hope to see cornhole tournaments sprout up all over [the] community, fostering a sense of camaraderie, friendly competition, and community spirit,” said Mamma Maria’s owner Nick Konjuvca.
