Chatham-Kent is looking to the public for input on how and where tax dollars should be spent.

The municipality has launched a survey on the Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent website to give local residents a chance to have their say on the 2024-2027 Chatham-Kent budget.

The survey will include a number of wide-ranging questions as well as an opportunity for residents to provide general comments.

Steve Brown, Chatham-Kent’s director of budget and performance services, said the online survey provides residents with an opportunity to assist in developing the municipality’s spending plan for the next four years.

“The more information we have and the earlier we have it, the better we can understand the needs of the community,” he said in a news release.

The information collected through the survey will be used by administration when developing the budget and will it will also be provided to Chatham-Kent Council prior to deliberations.

The online survey will be open until June 26. A second survey will also be launched in late summer to allow residents to weigh in on potential recommended changes prior to the draft budget being released to Council on November 15.
