A new healthcare position created to support Indigenous patients at Chatham-Kent’s hospital has now been filled.

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance has announced that Caroline Miller is the successful candidate to fulfill the organization’s newly created Indigenous Transition Navigator role.

This position will focus on the healthcare navigation needs of Indigenous patients and ensuring services are delivered in a culturally supportive way.

“Integrating this role into hospital operations and our community is a significant step in working towards reconciliation, and supports a major goal in our 2021-2024 Strategic Plan – to exemplify a culture of empathy, compassion and inclusivity,” said CKHA President and CEO Lori Marshall in a news release.

This position was created with guidance from the community and local Indigenous partnerships.

Miller will officially begin the role at CKHA on July 10.
