Wallaceburg residents should expect to see ongoing construction on Dufferin Avenue for the next several months as a rehabilitation project kicks off this week.

Birnam Excavating will begin work on Dufferin Avenue on Wednesday for the project, which involves the rehabilitation of 1.9 km of the road from the McNaughton Avenue intersection to 90 metres west of Walnut Drive.

The road will remain open to traffic in both directors throughout the project, however, lane restrictions may occur. Access to properties and businesses will also remain open.

Construction is expected to be completed by December 2023, with site restoration being wrapping up in the spring of 2024.

Chatham-Kent has set aside $8.7 million to rehabilitate the road. The province has also committed $3 million in funding through the Connecting Links program.
