A second tornado has been confirmed in Chatham-Kent, less than a week after the first.

The Northern Tornados Project said a research team conducted a ground and drone survey of damage sustained during a storm in Blenheim on July 26.

The group has confirmed that an EF1 tornado cut a 9.77 km path through the northern end of town, causing damage to homes, sheds, trees and some crops during the storm.

According to the Northern Tornados Project, the tornado had an estimated max wind speed of 160 km/h.

No injuries were reported.

An EF1 tornado was also confirmed the week prior in South Buxton, following a storm on July 20.

The Northern Tornadoes Project was founded at Western University in 2017 to better detect tornados throughout Canada and improve severe and extreme weather understanding.
