Four community service organizations in Chatham-Kent are getting a financial boost from the federal government.
Through the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund, a total of $340,950 has been distributed to support four charitable and non-profit projects in the municipality.
Of those funds, $98,650 was given to Opportunity Villages Community Land Trust to support the construction of a 30-unit small home development and community centre in CK, which will help bridge the gap between rental and home ownership.
A total of $91,650 was provided to the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent to assist with modernization.
Vision Us, a local non-profit consultant group, was also awarded $71,500. The funding will be used to streamline the agency’s ability to collect, analyze, and report data from grassroots groups and smaller non-profits across Chatham-Kent
Another $79,150 was provided to ComeTogetherCK to develop a contact database and fundraising plan to better organize and engage thousands of volunteers.
The funds were delivered to each organization through the Chatham-Kent Community Foundation.
The federal government’s Community Services Recovery Fund is a one-time investment of $400 million to help community service organizations modernize and adapt to provide services following the COVID-19 pandemic.
