First responders from across Chatham-Kent will be teaming up with some very special kids this weekend.

The annual Holiday with a Hero event returns tomorrow, the first since before the pandemic, providing a memorable holiday shopping experience for 40 deserving children.

The festivities begin at 7:30 at Walmart in Chatham, where kids will be paired with police officers, fire fighters, paramedics, and other community partners as they buy gifts for themselves or their loved ones.

Then, the group will be led by police escort to the Bradley Convention Centre, where they will be served breakfast and take part in a number of fun-filled activities, including gift wrapping, a bouncy castle, and other surprises.

Officials say the event aims not only to create lasting memories for the children but also to strengthen the bond between law enforcement, emergency services, and the community.
