A local man has been charged after allegedly threatening a Wallaceburg business online.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a Murray Street business to conduct a threat investigation on Monday shortly before 10 a.m.

Police learned that a man had posted comments online allegedly threatening to burn the business down. The accused was then contacted and told officers were investigating this incident.

The 50-year-old Chatham man attended police headquarters shortly after 11 a.m. that day and turned himself in. He is now charged with one count of uttering threats and has been released from custody with a January court date.
