As the mercury drops, a local organization is doing what it can to help those needing to get out of the cold.

Hope Haven in Chatham is operating as a warming centre from 7pm until 7am today through Saturday.

Officials say anyone can be affected by extreme cold-related weather conditions, depending on length of exposure. Those especially at risk include:

  • older adults over the age of 65
    • infants and young children
    • outdoor workers
    • homeless persons, and/or those without warm clothing or food

Anyone experiencing homelessness or needing additional services including transportation to Hope Haven should call the Homeless Response Line at 519-354-6628 (24/7).
