A major donation will help thousands of children with special needs in Chatham-Kent and across southwestern Ontario.
The Cathy and Rob Myers Foundation is donating $1-million to the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent.
The money is earmarked for the Butterfly Building Campaign to create a new 50,000 square foot facility.
“We’re a local company that believes in this community,” says Rob Myers, CEO of RM Sotheby’s. “If we can help reduce the waiting list for kids needing specialized therapies and services, then we will do it. This new facility will do amazing work and the extra space and facilities are long-needed. I hope we all can get behind finishing this project in 2024.”
“Every day, the need grows for this new, expanded and modernized CTC facility as our waiting lists get longer,” says Mike Genge, Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation President. “The Myers family is aware of this need and have strongly supported our efforts in the past. This is another significant gesture that shows how much they want to help our kids with special needs.”
The Children’s Treatment Centre supports as many as 5000 children and youth with physical, developmental, and communication needs. The new facility, to be built on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham, will feature a range of essential amenities, including a dedicated gym, therapy rooms, and an updated pool that will be accessible to both clients and the wider community. The increased office space will enhance the working environment for staff and provide improved charting capabilities.
